All-Ireland Senior Club Semi-Final: Portumna 2-18 Dunloy 0-12 Portumna are once again back in Croke Park on St Patricks day after seeing off Dunloy in Parnell Park last Sunday. They have kept their three in a row dreams intact and have set up a final date meeting with Ballyhale Shamrocks.
Dunloy opened the scoring after the throw in with a good point from Paddy Richmond. That was the one and only time that Dunloy were to get ahead when Damien Hayes opened the scoring for Portumna ,Portumna settled well to the task ahead. Joe Canning scored three unanswered points the third of which was a 21 yard free when he was taken down needless to say Joe went for goal but it was brillantly tipped over the bar by the Dunloy goalkeeper McGhee. Galway JHC C Final: Portumna 2-06 Ballindereen 0-06
Portumna Junior C's followed the example of their Senior counterparts on Sunday and won the Junior C County Cup. The continuing damp weather led to the Athenry surface being slippery in patches, it was playable but both sides struggled with the underfoot conditions. At the same time, neither lacked commitment and are to be commended on the honest endeavour on show.[read on]

Galway SHC Final: Portumna 1-18 Gort 2-07
A week later than originally planned, almost 10,000 spectators turned up in Pearse Stadium Galway to watch All-Ireland Club champions Portumna defend their County title against a young Gort side appearing in their first final in 25 years. While Portumna were appearing in their sixth successive final, they had never managed to retain the title they won for the first time in 2003 and following less than impressive performances, according to the critics in the knock-out stages, Gort were expected to put it up to Portumna.[read on]

Galway SHC: Portumna 2-16 Sarsfields 1-09
Duggan Park, Ballinasloe was the venue for this eagerly awaited Group clash between Portumna and their latter day tormentors Sarsfields, a side they had failed to beat in Championship hurling. This despite they holding commanding and what looked like winning leads in previous vital encounters. But you could never write off the Cooneys and McGraths and unfortunately for Sarsfields they didn't possess such saviours of yesteryear to steal victory from certain defeat.[read on]

Galway SHC: Portumna 5-12 Kiltormer 1-09
Portumna began the defence of their County, Connacht and All-Ireland Titles on Sunday in a very well appointed and sunny Killimor.
With injuries to Eugene McEntee and Micheal Ryan and Peter Smith on peace-keeping duties in Chad, John O’Flaherty was introduced at full-back, Eoin Lynch relocated to centre-back, Aidan O'Donnell resumed after injury in his customary half-back position and Ciaran Ryan brought in at centre-field. The attack remained unchanged from that which brought All-Ireland honours on St. Patrick’s Day.[read on]
